(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 09 GIU - The Guardia di Finanza will hold a training course on financial crimes, open to all countries of the Americas, from 8 to 16 September, in Ostia. This was announced by the Italian Permanent Observer to the Organisation of American States (OAS), Ambassador Roberto Nocella, during an ad hoc meeting organised by the Security Committee. "This type of activity is part of the numerous legal diplomacy and security initiatives that Italy promotes in Latin America and the Caribbean," explained the Ambassador, who presented some of the projects financed by Italy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We share values and interests with American countries, and the OAS constitutes an effective platform for collaboration that allows us to build bridges with Italy and strengthen them," Nocella pointed out.
The Italian representative also dwelt on the architecture of some of the projects financed by Italy, which involve not only intra-American multilateral cooperation, but also a synergy with articulations of the Italian state, as in this case with the Guardia di Finanza, but also with civil society, such as with the Community of San Patrignano, involved in the Foctali programme, for the rehabilitation and social reintegration of drug addicts "In the third phase of the Foctali project, which ended at the end of last year, organisations from ten countries in the region took part: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Jamaica, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay,'' Nocella pointed out, emphasising that this collaboration scheme (which includes an Italian point of reference for the implementation of the projects) will soon be explored in other areas as well.
